Association Slovenska izseljenska matica presenting the 25th Annual Art Colony: “Two Homelands”

The Association Slovenska izseljenska matica is organizing the twenty-fifth annual art colony for academic and amateur painters who are natively Slovenian but live abroad.

The art colony will take place from 3 to 11 June 2016 in Pišece, in the municipality of Brežice, in the peaceful environment of the Kozjansko Park. The painters will live and exert their creativity in Villa Silva Marija. The colony co-organizers are Mart Bibič and his wife Silva Marija, the owners of the villa.

The colony will be supervised by Monika Ivančič Fajfar who will mentor the painters. After the colony, an exhibition will be set up in Pišeče, for which each of the participants in the colony will donate two of their works. The organizer is covering the costs of lodging, food and base materials. Painters should arrange their own transport to and from the colony.

The title topic of this year’s colony is “Two Homelands”.

Applications can also be sent via e-mail to sim@zdruzenje-sim.si.

In the application, the applicant should basic information (name, surname, year of birth, phone number, e-mail, information about previous work, exhibitions, techniques you use in painting, etc.).

It is mandatory that the applicant include at least two photographs of their works. They should also specify how they are connected to Slovenia. The candidates will be informed about the results in ten days after application deadline.

Rules and criteria for application:

· Slovenian living abroad;

· those who haven’t participated before will be given priority;

· creativity, originality and quality.

The committee will consist of a fine art critic and two representatives from Slovenska izseljenska matica.
