The American Slovenian Education Foundation (ASEF) fellowship program provides financial and educational support, allowing fellows to focus on their academic and professional development. Fellows build lasting relationships with Slovenia. The purpose of the fellowship is to strengthen exchange between Slovenia and the Americas with the objective of giving talented students, preferably of Slovenian background, the ability to visit Slovenia while also gaining professional/academic experience.

About the fellowship

The ASEF fellowship provides funding (travel, housing, and living expenses) for a 10 week summer visit to a Slovenian university, research institution or a company in the area of applicant’s field of study/expertise. ASEF will work with applicants to identify suitable mentors at participating institutions. There is no target start date for the visit --- the target date will be decided between the fellow and her/his mentor.

Eligibility

Applications are open to full-time students, enrolled in an accredited higher education institution. Their knowledge of Slovenian language and of Slovenia is recommended but not necessary. A typical applicant is a full-time senior undergraduate, masters, or PhD student.
